Casting House has been set up as a direct response to the problems casting teams face delivering excellent contributors within tight schedules and budgets.

Casting House was founded by Charlie Clare because he could see, as a director, that casting teams were consistently failing to find good contributors within their fast shrinking budgets.

Biography

Charlie’s career in factual entertainment television has been centred around casting and contributor management for 12 years. After a degree in Sociology, Charlie decided that a career in television would satisfy his desire to work with people. In 1998 he started as a researcher on Trisha and learnt the skills of casting. Next followed two years working on Kilroy, first as casting AP then managing casting teams as a producer.

In 2002 he moved to RDF to work on factual entertainment as a casting AP, including two series of Holiday Showdown and then casting other shows for Shine, Granada and Yorkshire Television.

The next few years saw Charlie move from being a leading casting AP into becoming a director. Directing credits include the first, and format defining, Don’t Tell The Bride for BBC Three, How to Look Good Naked with Gok Wan and Project Catwalk.

Charlie’s career has never moved away from his central interest and skill – finding and managing ordinary people with great stories. His desire to create Casting House came from a realisation that casting could be done more effectively, cheaper and quicker than ever before. In short, Casting House provides an inexpensive, stress-free alternative to in-house casting for production companies.
